Route

How does the day work?

Your chosen option reaches Upper by shuttle or on foot before the guided canyon walk.

  1. pass by
    1. Upper Antelope Canyon entrance

Shuttle options use an off-road vehicle along the unpaved approach. You meet your Navajo guide at Upper's entrance.

  2. 110 min
    2. Upper Antelope Canyon approach

The hiking option reaches the entrance on foot. Your guide shares Navajo stories along the way, with a walk back after the canyon visit.

  3. 50 min
    3. Upper Antelope Canyon

Light shifts across Upper's sandstone walls as the sun moves. The Navajo guide leads your walk through the canyon.

Your guided walk inside Upper lasts 50 minutes. Hiking adds an approach and return on foot, while shuttle options use an off-road vehicle. Each option ends at its assigned meeting point.

Pickup and meeting point

  • Meeting details: Your meeting point arrives by email in the 3 days before departure, or earlier. Page time is Mountain Standard Time year-round. Use Phoenix time on your phone.
  • Arrival deadline: Hiking: 80 minutes early. For AA, plan at least 30 minutes early and follow any earlier final deadline. AS requires 45 minutes.
  • Proof at check-in: Bring valid photo ID and the operator's own confirmation number. It arrives by text or email, and you don't need a printout.
  • What to wear: Comfortable outdoor shoes are recommended for the walk. Wear clothes for the season, and bring water for the desert.

Before you book

  • Your booking page voucher isn't the separate operator number. The final instructions give your meeting point and check-in deadline.

Fit

Is this tour right for you?

Hiking suits experienced walkers aged 9 and up with firm travel dates. You reach Upper on foot from the meeting point. The permit isn't included with this option. Your booking isn't refundable if you cancel.

Adventurous Upper starts from $119 per person and includes the ride from its lot. That booking allows a full refund for cancellation at least 24 hours before departure. For Page pickup, Dineh's canyon pair costs from $369.37 per adult with both canyon admissions.

Means: Choose Hiking for its lower starting price if everyone is at least 9 and ready for the extra walk.

Who it's not for

  • Travelers who need a refund if they cancel
  • Anyone unable to complete the chosen walking route
  • Pregnant travelers or travelers with spinal injuries

Good to know

Know before you go

Ages and access

Shuttle options accept ages 8 and up, while Hiking starts at 9. Strollers and walkers aren't permitted on these routes. The hiking approach is intended for experienced walkers.

Shoes and gear

Wear comfortable outdoor shoes and clothing suited to the weather. Water matters on the dry desert walk, and bags aren't allowed inside Upper. Camera supports and selfie sticks must stay behind.

Weather decisions

Unsafe conditions can shut the canyon. Local canyon operators or Navajo Parks make that decision, so a booking doesn't guarantee access in bad weather.

Arrival consequences

Hiking check-in is 80 minutes early, and late arrival loses your place without a refund. Navajo Nation time runs one hour ahead of Page from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November. The clocks match the rest of the year.

Canceling your booking

Customer cancellations receive no refund on this booking. That applies to the shuttle options as well as Hiking. A change to your travel plans doesn't create a free cancellation window.

Booking and proof

A single booking and the tour group each have a limit of 14 travelers. Booking is immediate, but the operator's separate check-in number follows. Bring that number and valid photo ID when you arrive.
