  • Rainbow Bridge by boat Rainbow Bridge's dock doesn't currently connect to land. A higher lake reading alone doesn't establish usable access. Aramark's Rainbow Bridge cruise is suspended.

  • Kayaks Antelope Point's public ramp allows kayak launches at your own risk.

Good to know

People also ask

  • Where is Lake Powell located?

Lake Powell spans the Arizona and Utah border in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Page is your base for the southern shore. Wahweap and Antelope Point offer boat access; launch options depend on water levels.

  • How deep is Lake Powell?

561 feet is Lake Powell's maximum depth at Glen Canyon Dam when the reservoir is full. The depth changes with the water level. The dated elevation reading measures height above sea level, so it isn't a depth measurement.

  • How big is Lake Powell?

186 miles, or 299 km, is Lake Powell's length at full pool. Lower water changes the shoreline and how far water reaches into canyons. That full-pool length isn't a measure of your boat trip from Page.

  • Is Lake Powell man made?

Yes, Glen Canyon Dam holds back the Colorado River to form Lake Powell. The 710-foot dam height is measured from bedrock. You can see the structure from the Carl Hayden Visitor Center without taking a boat.

  • Why is Lake Powell so low?

Drought and climate change have lowered Lake Powell while water releases continue through Glen Canyon Dam. That exposes more shoreline and limits your choice of boat launch ramps. A low lake doesn't close every route.

  • Can you swim in Lake Powell?

Yes, you can swim in Lake Powell outside marinas and launch areas. Rainbow Bridge National Monument is closed to swimming. There aren't lifeguards; your swim plan needs a way back onto shore or your boat.
